Franco Majok feeds the child of a freed slave
During the Sudanese civil war (1983 - 2005), countless people in the south (now South Sudan) were killed by Islamist militias or abducted to the north. Even though the slave raids have stopped, many Southern Sudanese are still enslaved and are exposed to the cruel arbitrariness of slave owners; others were born in slavery. To date, CSI has been able to free over 160,000 slaves.

CSI priorities:

South Sudan
  • Slave liberation and repatriation
  • Support for liberated South Sudanese to start a new life (survival pack, goat)
  • Medical care for freed slaves
  • Aid programs for the local population, including food aid
Sudan
  • Distribution of sorghum and other essential food supplies
  • Emergency supplies including roofing sheets, blankets, and mosquito nets
  • Medical support and essential medicines
  • Educational materials for schools
