Free the Captives

Christian Solidarity International (CSI) will sponsor Vicken Euljekjian, an Armenian civilian unjustly detained by Azerbaijan since 2020, as part of the Libertas campaign.

In June 2021, Mehak Afzal, a 12-year-old Christian girl from Punjab, was abducted by a Muslim man who forced her to marry him. Now, two and a half years after she was kidnapped, Mehak has managed to escape. In Pakistan, hundreds of non-Muslim girls are victims of kidnapping and forced marriage every year.

Thousands of people, both Christian and Muslim, have been terrorized by Pakistan's blasphemy laws. Sarfraz A., 40, a Muslim, was arrested after being accused of blasphemy by a local cleric. For weeks after his arrest, his family did not know what had happened to him. Sarfraz spent almost a year and a half in jail. Thanks to CSI's help, Sarfraz is now free on bail and has opened an electrical store with his brother.

A court in Pakistan has sentenced 22-year-old Christian Noman Masih to death under the country’s harsh blasphemy laws. CSI is supporting his legal team, which has lodged an appeal.

Mussarat Bibi, a Christian, and her Muslim colleague Muhammad Sarmad spent 23 days in prison on blasphemy charges. The fact that they were released on bail on May 12 is largely thanks to the efforts of CSI partner Anjum Paul.
