Since 1977, Christian Solidarity International has brought people of different church traditions together in a common mission for religious freedom and human dignity.

CSI goes to places where communities face violence, captivity, discrimination or the threat of enforced disappearance. We bring practical help and stand alongside those who feel abandoned.
While CSI is drawn first to crises facing Christian communities, our Christian calling also compels us to act as Good Samaritans to victims of oppression regardless of their race or religion.

A life returned to freedom
In 2026, South Sudanese Christian Abuk Machar Tong was liberated after spending 28 years in slavery in Sudan.
Her story is extraordinary, but she is not alone.
For three decades, CSI has worked with local networks to find people still held in slavery, secure their liberation and help them return home. Tens of thousands of people have been liberated through these networks.
Behind every number is a person reclaiming a life that was taken from them.

Nigeria: Christians Under Siege
In 2020, CSI issued a Genocide Warning for Christians in Nigeria's Middle Belt.
Since 2019, Fulani militia attacks have killed, kidnapped and displaced Christian families across Nigeria's Middle Belt and northeast. CSI combines direct humanitarian aid with sustained international advocacy for the persecuted.

Free Suleiman Khalil
Detained in Syria since February 2025, held incommunicado and without charge.
Suleiman Khalil is a Syriac Orthodox engineer who helped defend the Christian town of Sadad from ISIS in 2015 and later served as its mayor. Syria's transitional authorities arrested him in February 2025 on unsubstantiated weapons allegations, and he has been held incommunicado since. CSI is calling on Western governments to press for his release.

Where does my donation go?
Your gift funds CSI's work in the field and its advocacy for persecuted people. That covers emergency relief for communities facing religious violence, war and displacement; the liberation and reintegration of people held captive or enslaved for their faith; legal aid and support for families rebuilding their lives; and advocacy with governments and international institutions, including the United Nations.
Each affiliate reports on how it spends donations, and CSI's annual reports set out each year's project and advocacy work in full.
Can I donate to a specific CSI project or campaign?
Yes. Most affiliate donation forms let you direct your gift to a particular campaign or region, such as Sudan relief or the liberation of captives. If you don't see the option you want, contact the affiliate you are giving through and they will make sure your gift reaches the right program.
Can I give monthly?
Yes. Recurring gifts are arranged through your local CSI affiliate. Choose your country on this page, then select the monthly or recurring option on the affiliate's donation form.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Tax treatment depends on the law of the country you give from and the affiliate you give through. CSI cannot advise on your personal tax position.
Will I receive a donation receipt?
Yes. Ask for a receipt on your affiliate's donation form, or contact the affiliate you gave through and they will issue one.
How can I verify CSI's work?
CSI's work is documented in public:
- CSI holds consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
- CSI publishes an annual report each year, covering its projects, advocacy and finances.
- CSI issues regular media releases, and its work is covered independently in the press.
- News updates and campaign pages track humanitarian and advocacy work as it happens.
