Mob violence drives thousands of Pakistani Christians from their homes

On August 16, 2023, a mob attacked Christian neighborhoods in Jaranwala town in Pakistan.

Over 2,500 people were driven from their homes. Dozens of churches and homes were burned down.

The attack occurred after two Christians were accused of desecrating a copy of the Qur’an. In Pakistan, blasphemy against Islam carries the death sentence.
